Weekly Director's Update

What a busy week at SCDC!! The Spring Program & Open House on Monday was a HUGE success. The children had so much fun with their songs and seeing allthe families was such a wonderful thing! The total amount brought in fromthe silent auction baskets, pizza sales, bake sale and the bike donationswas $2,021.81. A special thank you to all of those families that madedonations. The Ternan Family and the Wartluft Family each purchased a bikefor the new playground for our youngest students. We have the best families here at SCDC!! You support us in so many ways and we are so blessed for that :-) The money raised will be used on things we would like to add to our program. A special thank you to all of you!

The staff has enjoyed teacher appreciation week. Thanks for all you do for each of us!! The end of the year is quickly approaching! Here is what's coming up:*

Monday - Kathy Walden will be here to take pictures of those students in Red, Purple & Sky Blue who are graduating. The students will have their picture taken in a cap & gown and the proofs will be on her website to order and purchase. I will let you know when the pictures are onthe site to view.

Wednesday - Field Day (am) We do need parent volunteers so if you are interested in helping please contact Susan Vankirk at susanvankirk@sbcglobal.net

Wednesday (May 20th) - End of the year parties for: Red, Purple, Sky Blue, Green, Orange and Rainbow. If you have not yet reserved a spot outside and plan to have a water activity, you need to let me know ASAP. Last day of school for Green, Orange and Rainbow classrooms. Friday (May 22nd ) - Class party for Blue and Yellow Rooms & last day of school for all students. Graduation is at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary. Catered lunch for the graduates immediately following in Palmer Hall.

Weekly Director's Update

Happy May Day!! I can’t believe we are into May already; this school year has flown by. We have enjoyed your children so much!! We have a busy month ahead of us!

Just a few reminders:
· Monday is the Spring Program & Open House from 6-8pm. Please drop your child off in their classroom by 5:45 dressed in nice (church) clothes. The program will start promptly at 6 pm in the sanctuary. Immediately following the program we invite you to come back to the new building to pick your child up from their classrooms and enjoy the open house. Pre-ordered pizza & drinks will be on hand as well as the bake sale items for purchase.
· Bake sale items are needed for Monday!! Please bring them individually wrapped to the new kitchen area on Monday. If you have questions please let me know.
· Silent Auction baskets will be available to bid on starting on Monday. We will also have a table to display our new bikes for the younger playground. We need to purchase two more bikes in addition to the two we already have. The cost is approx. $150. We will accept any donations toward this purchase and families may purchase a bike and donate to the school in their name. So look for that on Monday as well.
· Teacher Appreciation all next week!!!
· Wednesday – Ms. Natalie’s birthday & Fire Drill
· Ms. Tori’s birthday on Saturday (10th)

Update on the swine flu:
I sent an email on Tuesday I hope you all got. The staff of SCDC is doing what we can do here to fight germs. We use two types of sanitizers on all the items the children use as well as hand sanitizers and hand washing. We need your help though to keep your children home if you even suspect they are not feeling well. I will send you another email I received yesterday from the CDC. Please watch the news this weekend and keep your eye on what Allen ISD does. If the district closes we close. If a child at SCDC is confirmed to have the flu virus we will close. If this does happen you will be notified by email and phone. Please help us keep our “community” healthy!

Weekly Director's Update

We are getting all settled into the new space! The children seemed to have adjusted very well, and we appreciate your patience with the process. We are very excited and hope you all plan to attend the Open House and Spring Program on Monday, May 4th from 6-8 pm. This will be a great opportunity to see the entire building and enjoy food and fun. **Reminder** If you plan to have pizza and drinks please return your form (sent in your child’s folder earlier in the week) and money to your teacher by May 4th. There will also be a bake sale that night that you can purchase yummy items.

· Silent Auction baskets – Will be on display all next week in front of the SCDC office area. Bidding will not begin until Monday, May 4th and will end at a set time at the open house. The baskets are awesome!!

As you can see we have a lot of things coming up in the next few weeks! The children have had fun this week with the story of Noah and talking about their pets and some classes oceans. I asked the children today to look for rainbows in the sky after it rains and remember God’s promise to all of us! Have a great weekend!

Weekly Director's Update

Well, we made it!! What an exciting morning it was for those classes that found their new rooms on Friday! On Monday, all of our classes will be in their new rooms. Just as a reminder please enter the new building on the southeast corner (off of Twin Creeks/Suncreek Drive). The northwest door of the building is only an exit and will be locked during school hours for safety reasons. We thank you all for your patience throughout this building and moving process. We still have several items that the contractors will be working on for several weeks. We are so thankful for this beautiful space!

Sick Policy:
This is allergy season and many of us are suffering from all the junk in the air! Please keep in mind our sick policy that we have in place. Your child may not come to school if they have yellow green discharge coming from their nose in addition to fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. If you’re uncertain of your child’s symptoms and the schools policy please let me know. I appreciate your understanding on this matter!

Weekly Director's Update

What a beautiful day for our Easter Egg Hunts!! Parents thank you for all your help with the planning our special events like the Easter party and egg hunt, we appreciate your help!

I hope you all received the email about the building update. We will not have school on Friday since the plan was to move. It is unlikey the move will happen on Friday, but in the event we get temporary occupancy yet by Friday, we may. If anything changes for our Monday school day I will email you and your classroom teacher will contact you by phone. If you hear nothing please bring your child to their current classroom on Monday. We appreciate your flexibility with this matter.

We will also update you on the Spring Open House as soon as we know for sure. Our tentative rescheduled date for the Open House is Friday, May 1st from 6-8 pm. We should be firm on this next week!

Director's Weekly Update

As many of you saw at pick up time there was a funeral here at the church. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused in picking up your child. We appreciate your patience!

Please remember next week that SCDC is closed on Friday! The move to the new building will be taking place on this day. We will be officially starting classes in our new space on Monday, April 13th. That morning you may park in front of the new building entering from Suncreek DR. (on the east side of the building) and the main entrance to the building is right there. I will send more information next week.

Wednesday is the day for the Easter parties. Several parents have reserved playgrounds for certain times to have their egg hunts. Room moms if you have not done that please let me know so we have a place for you! Parties start around 1:00 for some classes and Rainbow is at 11:30.

Open House:
Our open house will be on Friday, April 17th from 6-8:00. Several of the silent auction baskets have come in, and they look great!! We will be sending home information on pre ordering pizza and drink for that event. We will also post pictures of the silent auction baskets soon!! Remember all the money raised on the silent auction goes back into items for the preschool.
