Weeekly Director's Post

Good morning,
It is hard to believe we are already at the end of April.  This school year has just flown by at lightning speed.  The next three weeks will be very busy and full of fun activities for the children and families of SCDC.  Next week we begin our month of “celebrations” – we will celebrate Texas, Cinco de Mayo, and Mother’s & Father’s Day.  We also gear up for the summer season by celebrating God’s gift of ocean life which goes along with our chapel lesson this month of Jonah.  The bible verse is “Come follow me” Matthew 4:19.  The children will finish up the alphabet with Y & Z as well as reviewing the entire alphabet. The color of the month is blue and the shape is crescent.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation week.  Please make sure to read information sent to you by the room parents for the daily schedule of activities in regards to this.  The staff appreciates all the love and kindness that you show them this school year.  We all love your children very much and it is such an honor to be part of their early childhood education.  Thank you for that privilege!!
Please mark your calendar for these upcoming events next week and beyond:
·        Monday – Thursday – Teacher Appreciation Week
·        Monday – Spring Program & Open House 6:30pm – Please have your child in their classroom by  6:15pm.  (See flyer attached)
·        Field Day – Wednesday, May 11th 9:30 – Noon – Rainbow, Orange & Green classes – we need parent volunteers this day to help with the stations to be able to make this run smoothly.  If you can volunteer to help please email Suzanne at suncreekids@gmail.com.
·        Field Day – Thursday, May 12th 9:30-Noon – All classes - we need many parent volunteers this day to help with the stations to be able to make this run smoothly.  If you can volunteer to help please email Suzanne at suncreekkids@gmail.com.
·        Pre K Graduation – Thursday, May 19th 11am & the last day of school for all students

SCDC Spring Program DVDs may be purchased for $5 each (cash or check made to SCDC) – order forms were sent home with your child in their folder and the form is attached to this email. As a reminder SCDC offers this option for our families as our programs are so well attended and we want to make sure parents are able to see their children perform. Please keep in mind I ask that you not come to the front middle isle of the sanctuary as that is where the camera for filming is. There were some issues at Christmas with parents stepping in front of the camera to catch a shot of their own child. I ask that you please not do that as parents pay for the DVD to see their child and it has to be edited due to bodies that are not part of the program and then children are not shown. I appreciate your understanding and consideration in this matter. It is a great keepsake for your family and a great gift for extended family members.
***Calling All Bakers…***
We need donations of cookies for our SCDC Spring Program and Open House on Monday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to help, please bring your cookies to the Round Room either at drop off or pick up on May 2nd. Thanks so much for your support of SCDC!
A couple of reminders:
·        May tuition is due next week
·        Pick up is at 2:00pm – thank you for your help with this!!
·        Please keep your child with you at all times before and after school while you are in the building.  Please do not allow your children to play in the round room without proper supervision for safety reasons.
Have a great day!
Blessings~

Weekly Director's Post

Good afternoon,
Thank you parents for planning and helping with this week’s Easter parties and egg hunts.  The weather didn’t cooperate but the children still had a great day hunting for the eggs indoors.   They had a blast and it was great to see so many of you able to come and share in the fun.  If you are a Facebook fan of Suncreek Children’s Development Center I hope to have some pictures of the parties on there soon.  I hope to be able to send some in an email to you on Monday.
Just a couple reminders for next week:
·        Family Chapel
·        Wednesday fire drill 9:30am
·         A note will be coming next week in your child’s folder for cookie donations for the Spring Program on Monday, May 2nd.  Look for that in your child’s folder Monday & Tuesday. The Spring Program and Open House is coming up on Monday, May 2nd at 6:30pm.

I wish all of our SCDC families a Happy Easter!

Next week Easter parties will take place on Wednesday for M/W Rainbow, Orange and Green and on Thursday for all other classes.  Please make sure you have checked out any sign up sheets for items to sign up for and have checked the emails from room parents and party coordinators.  Huge thanks to the parents that generously take the time to organize these fun events for the children.  Please check with your child’s teacher if you are uncertain of the time the party will take place.  Parents are always welcome to attend the parties!!

Update:
I am happy to announce that SCDC families donated a total of $732.00 to the Kathleen Baskin-Ball Memorial Garden from the lemonade stand last week.  We have such a generous and loving community!!!  Thank you so much!!
April tuition is due at this time.  All supply fees for next school are now past due – if you still owe that payment please do as soon as possible – thank you!
A parent survey will be sent home on May 3rd.  This year we are trying a different format and it will be an online survey instead of a paper one.  If anyone would rather have the paper survey instead please let me know and you will be provided one. The feedback given from the surveys every year helps us to know what areas we do well in and the areas that need improvement.  This is what makes SCDC such a special place!!

Next week we will continue to build up to Easter in chapel and the children will continue studying that in their classrooms as well.  This is such a special time of the year and I love seeing how the children grasp the true meaning of Easter beyond the eggs and bunnies J  Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings~

Director's Weekly Post

Good afternoon parents,

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful spring break!! It was great to get back in the swing of things this week and see the sweet children – I missed them!! We have so many fun and exciting things going on for the remaining weeks of this school year. Spring is definitely in the air and the centers lab has already started springtime fun. Ask your child what is in the water and sand table right now. That is one of their favorite things!! The children have enjoyed chapel time this month and I invite all parents to attend family chapel next week.

Here are a few important reminders:

  • Class and individual pictures will be coming home with your child today and tomorrow – they turned out so cute!!
  • Supply fees for the 2011-2012 school year are due by April 1st. Please make all checks to SCDC – if you are unsure if you have already paid this fee please email Susan VanKirk at susanvankirk@sbcglobal.net and she will check for you.
  • Kelly Dixon, mom of Hannah & Dylan in the Silver Room, will have a booth set up next Wednesday & Thursday. She makes beautiful jewelry so make sure to check that out.
  • Fire Drill 10:15 next Thurs. March 31st.
  • Check out our green recycle tub in the office to collect and recycle the Capri Sun pouches from the children's lunches – the Green Room T/Th class had such a fun time decorating it. You may collect pouches at home and send them to school and place in the tub to add to our collection. Thanks for your help with this great project!
Enjoy this beautiful day!!

Blessings~

Happy March!! So glad to see it come in as a lamb after the yucky weather we had in February. I sure hope the nicer weather is here to stay! With a new month brings all kinds of new things: themes, bible story, bible verse, new shape and color and of course new letters to learn. March is full of fun for sure! This entire month the children will be celebrating God’s gift of animals: farm, zoo/jungle and pets. Chapel time is Noah and the bible verse the students will learn is “Noah listened and obeyed God.” Genesis 6:22. The children love the story of Noah – I have to agree it is one of my favorites.

In our wonderful specials classes the children are having a blast!! In music they are singing and dancing with Ms. Mary Lee and Ms. Terri their favorite songs to prepare for the spring program that will be coming up in May. In centers lab if your flower delivery was late or didn’t arrive you will have to wait until next year because we have closed the flower shop to make room for the science lab. For the next couple months the students will have fun making and creating things as well as exploring bugs, both living and non-living and making things grow. We will also have a vet clinic for the animals we will also be studying. We also have some very yummy activities during our cooking time such as an edible rainbow. It’s always so exciting to see what the children will come up with!In computer lab we are continuing with home row and our progress is great! In addition to that we are working on rotations with all three of our software programs (literacy, math, and science). The children can get to the main menu by themselves and are well on their way to logging off and on independently!! I see some future techies in our midst!

Next week we will have a very talented vendor here by the name of Tricia Ryan. She makes beautiful necklaces and if you are on Facebook you can find her page under Tricia Ryan Studio. She will be here next Wednesday, March 9th and Thursday, March 10th. Susan and I both have a couple of her necklaces and just love them! They make great gifts and are very cost efficient.

Please make sure to check out the blog for pictures from this school year’s events such as the bike-a-thon, valentine parties, Q & U’s wedding and the dentist visit. You can find as at www.suncreekkids.blogspot.com. The pictures are also posted on the Suncreek Children’s Development Center fan page on Facebook. I try to upload event pictures as soon as I can. Enjoy!

Just a couple reminders:

March tuition is due.

We will be closed the week of March 14th-17th for Spring Break (Allen ISD Spring Break)

Please make sure to sign your child in and out daily with the phone number you may be reached at for the day – thanks!

Proofs are here from last week’s picture day if you would like to view and order additional pictures or place an order. Order forms are at the front desk. Please make all checks to Photo Design.

Scholastic Book orders forms were sent home this week – orders are due by Tuesday, March 22nd.

Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes to wear for recess daily –Please refrain from sending your child to school in sandals or wedge type shoes unless you send tennis shoes for your child to change into.

Have a great weekend!!Blessings~Lisa Newman

Happy Thursday!! What a busy week at SCDC!!! Thank you to the parents that took time out of their busy schedules to attend family chapel. The children always love it when parents are able to attend with them. If you have not been able to attend one yet this year I invite you to attend family chapel in March – it will be the week of March 28th. Individual and group pictures went very well. Purchasing school pictures is optional. If you still want to place an order please hand the forms in by Monday at the latest so I can get your order in with the rest. Thanks! Today was an exciting day at SCDC! We had a special guest from Allen dentist, Dr. Gough’s office. February is dental health month so we always love when they come to share how to take good care of our teeth. Ask your child if they shook Justin Beaver (Beiber’s) hand J some of the students were a little afraid and watched our special guest from a distance. Dr. Gough’s helper will be back on Monday to share the important information with the rest of the school. Each child between today and Monday will be coming home with a toothbrush! Lastly, in our Pre K classrooms (Red, Sky Blue & Purple) they attended the wedding of Q & U!! It was attended in the sanctuary by the pre k students and a cake reception followed. It makes perfect sense that Q and U should marry because when you see one you see the other when it comes to words. If you have a student in one of these classes ask them about it I know they will explain it all to you! Those younger students will look forward to this fun event in the years to come.

Just a couple reminders for next week:·

Monday - Dentist visit at 9:30 for the students in Red, Sky Blue, and Purple in the Round Room·

Monday - Dentist visit at 9:50 for students in Rainbow, Orange, and Green (M/W classes) in the Round Room·

Monday – Fire Drill 10:45am

Attached to today’s update are some pictures from the dentist visit and Q & U’s wedding. The complete wedding album was posted on Facebook today so look for more pictures of the event there.

I can’t believe next week we are into March already! This school year is just flying by so quickly.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us – each of them is a true blessing! Have a great weekend~ Lisa NewmanDirector

Happy Tuesday parents,

Well last week was quite a different week than we ever expected with the crazy weather. It sounds like the next two days could be bad as well. Please watch the news to check and see in the morning if there will be school or not. If school is cancelled on Thursday due to bad weather any of the valentine parties scheduled that day will be held the following Tuesday, Feb 15th. Let’s hope they are wrong and it won’t be nearly as bad as they predict. J Next Monday, Feb. 14th the classes will hold their Valentine parties – check with your teacher for the exact time. On Tues. Feb. 15th & Wed. Feb. 16th we will have our annual Pizza, Presidents and Pjs Day. Please send your child to school on the day your child will have their pizza in their pjs. I ask you to send a drink from home that day but you will not need to pack a lunch as pizza is lunch that day. The schedule is as follows:Tuesday: Rainbow, Orange, Green, Sky Blue & RedWednesday: Rainbow, Orange, Green, Yellow, Blue, Silver, and PurpleTeachers will send you a reminder to dress your child in pajamas and to send a drink for lunch. If you have any questions about the event please let us know! A lot of love is in the air at SCDC! It is a lot of fun seeing all of the pretty and fun activities the children do around Valentine’s Day. The children have been learning in chapel the many ways that God wants us to show love to others. The answers are always so fun to hear! Have a great week and hopefully I will see you all tomorrow!

They were very entertaining and the children really enjoyed themselves. I will include a couple pictures for you soon. Enrollment forms for our current SCDC families were sent home today. If your child attends school on Thursdays the enrollment form will go home tomorrow. Weekly Director Report

Happy Thursday! We are back into the routine slowly J It has been a great week and thank goodness we have had such nice weather to start the year. It sounds like next week we will get a taste of cold winter air. As a reminder please make sure to send a warm coat with your child for recess.

I am happy to tell you that we sent a $325 check to Heifer International from the money we raised with Faith the Cow. Thank you for your support with this wonderful charity.

You will see a lot of winter type activities in your child’s classroom this month as well as activities that deal with the Five Senses. Our bible story is creation and our bible verse is “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good” Psalm 34:8. The color of the month is white and the shape is a rectangle. The letters of the alphabet that will be studied are L, M, and N. Celebrating the season of winter is always fun for children.

In house registration for the 2011-2012 school begins on Monday, January 24th. The registration paperwork will be sent home the week of Tuesday, Jan. 18th. Just as a reminder we will be closed Monday, January 17th for MLK birthday.

January tuition is now due – please drop it in the tuition box hanging on the wall at the front desk – thanks!

Have a great weekend~
