Directors Weekly Report

What a fun week!! Parents, look forward to some wonderful art projects coming home today with your child. They have been very busy making so many neat crafts. Special keepsakes for you! The children are so excited about their parties and about Christmas quickly approaching. Thank you to all the parents that planned the fun class parties yesterday and today. Our parents are the best!!

The SCDC Christmas DVD has been sent home in your child’s folder if you ordered one. I do have a handful of them left if anyone is interested in picking one up. They are $5 each. Kent Potter did a fabulous job putting this special DVD together – we are so appreciative of him for taking time to do this for us. You rock Kent !!

Today was the last day for the children to bring money for Faith the Cow & Heifer International. We will be writing a check to them in January on behalf of SCDC to purchase animals for needy families. At a later date I will update you on the amount we raised and what we purchase with our donation. Thanks for your generous donations to such a worthy cause! Also, thank you to those that brought in coats, jackets and sweaters for the drive at Suncreek.

Just as a reminder we are closed December 20th – January 3rd. School will resume for us on Tuesday, January 4th. On behalf of all the SCDC staff I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! See you in 2011!!

In Christ’s Love,

Good morning parents,

Hope your Wednesday is going well! We have had such a fun week at SCDC. The kids are enjoying all the activities going on in the classrooms gearing up for the Christmas holiday. I have seen the cutest art projects and items being made in all of the classes. In chapel the children heard the story of the birth of Jesus and about the importance of the angel in the story. They loved having time during chapel to put money in Faith the Cow. We will continue to do donations for Heifer International through next week so the children may bring their donations and we will have them do that during chapel time. Thank you for all of your donations for such a good cause.

Also, a flyer is coming home today in your child’s folder about a mission through Suncreek United Methodist Church . It is a coat drive that a youth here at the church has started. You may donate any gently used coat here at the preschool and we will make sure it placed in the bin marked in the Narthex for the drive. Look for that information to come home today. This is not a mission that SCDC is doing but one through the church. On behalf of the church I thank you for your generosity.

Christmas Program DVDs:
Orders will be taken through Thursday (tomorrow) – they are $5 each
The DVDs will be ready and sent home with your child no later than next Thurs. Dec. 16th.

What a great way to get some stocking stuffers! Our own Ms. Wendy, Team 3 Aide, is a very talented cake maker. She has a wide menu of cakes that she makes year round. Her information is on a table in the hall as well.

**We are closed December 20th – January 3rd for the winter break. School will start back up for SCDC on Tuesday, January 4th. **

I can’t believe we are this close to Christmas already! This school year is just flying by. I feel so blessed to be part of such a loving community. It is such a pleasure to work here everyday and see each of your precious children. SCDC is such a special place and it is because we have the best families!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Director Post

Good morning,

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We had a very busy week at SCDC getting back into the swing of things. We finished Fruits of the Spirit this week with “kindness”. It was great to see so many parents attend family chapel this week. This month in chapel we will be preparing for the birth of Jesus. The children will also have the chance during chapel time to put their money they may bring all month for Faith the Cow. A flyer was sent home earlier in the week with all the information about Faith. This is a great way for our children to help others during this holiday season. The children LOVE putting their coins into Faith and we will make sure all students get a chance to do that themselves J

Christmas Program – Monday 6:30 pm – Please have your child in their classroom by 6:15 pm.
DVDs are on sale now for $5 each
Please do not stand in the center isle to take pictures and in the front of the side isles. We need to keep it clear for the children and staff to walk in and out.
Rainbow, Orange and Green will be asked to go with their parents to sit after they finish singing their songs. Green Room will dismiss down the right isle (facing the sanctuary) and exit into the hall. Please pick up your child during this time. Orange will also dismiss to the right and Rainbow will dismiss down the left isle. You may come at that time to receive your child.
Three year old classes will sit in reserved pews for the remainder of the program after they sing.
Each class does have a different prop that represents their part in the program. They all look so cute!!
All children that attend SCDC are in this program and have been practicing the songs so please make sure you plan to attend Monday night. What a great way to start our holiday season!!

*Winter parties are coming up quickly so please keep your eyes out for sign up sheets and more information about the details. Parties for M/W Rainbow, Orange , and Green classes will be on Wednesday, December 15th. All other class parties will be on Thursday, December 16th. *

Just a couple reminders:
December Tuition is now due
Please remember to sign your child in and out daily – thank you!

Lastly, I can’t believe that registration for the 2011-2012 school year is coming up next month! The forms and information will be coming home in January. Registration for our current SCDC families will start the week of January 24th – January 27th. New students (Suncreek UMC families) will start registering January 31st. Public registration will start on February 7th. If you have any questions please let me know.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings~

We have so much to be thankful for! This week the children have been preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and why we celebrate it. Along with that we have been studying the Fruits of the Spirit. This week we talked about joy and next week is peace. Ask the children which fruit we talk about with each one. The ones we have studied so far are love – strawberry, joy – orange, and peace – watermelon. This has been fun to share with the children and I love hearing the dialogue they share during chapel. Family chapel will be the week we come back from Thanksgiving break. Next week will be a busy week with the classroom feats on Wednesday & Thursday. Please look for the sign up sheet for items needed for each classrooms feast. As a reminder this is not a classroom party instead is a teacher led event. The kids have so much fun at the feast. We will make sure to take a lot of pictures!!

Here’s an update from Centers and Computer time with Ms. Natalie & Ms. Terri:
Centers Lab is in harvest mode and we are bringing the freshest food to our local markets. We are picking apples, planting several crops, and enjoying learning how to balance our feed sacks. We are using push pin art with dots....it looks great from the window. Our children are thrilled with the "feed corn" in the sand table and enjoy working with that new texture. Computers are also full of new exciting things. We are excited to announce we have now loaded Sammy's Science on our computers so we can begin our rotations Thursday during computer lab. We are working on recycling with the kids and they now know what goes into a compost pile...Look out!

Just a few announcements for next week:
Monday & Tuesday is cooking in Centers Lab (corn on the cob cookies)
Hearing & Vision Screening for Pre K Students
Progress Reports coming home – please sign them and return by next Thursday
Scheduled Pre K Parent Teacher Conferences (Purple – Monday, Red, Tuesday, Sky Blue – Wednesday)
Fire Drill Wednesday 10am
Wednesday & Thursday classroom feasts during the students lunch time

*Remember we will be closed the week of November 22nd-25th for Thanksgiving break*

Attached is a flyer for an upcoming Early Childhood PTA meeting in November.

Happy Veteran’s Day!! I am so thankful for the sacrifice so many have made to ensure are safety and freedom. Have a great weekend~

Many blessings~

Good morning parents,

The kids really enjoyed the Allen Fire Department’s visit this week to SCDC! They were able to get up inside the fire truck and look around and have their picture taken with it. This is a huge hit every year for our students!!

This week the children began the new theme for the month in their classes. The classroom feasts are coming up on Wednesday, Nov. 17th & Thursday, Nov. 18th. These are not like the classroom parties we have for other holidays. The children will eat their “feast” with their class and teachers and they discuss what the first Thanksgiving was like and why we celebrate the holiday. This will be your child’s lunch for the day so look for a sign up sheet by next week to sign up for the food to be provided for you child’s class feast. We ask that parents do not attend the feast like our other classroom parties since this is a teacher led event.

This week we did start our new chapel lesson dealing with the Fruits of the Spirit. This week we talked about Love (strawberry) and that God wants us to love all the time just like he does for us. Next week we will introduce joy (orange) so please make sure to ask your child about what they have learned in chapel. This is a great time to introduce this to our students with Thanksgiving since they see cornucopias this time of the year!

Just a few reminders for next week:

We have our first tornado drill Monday at 9:45am

With the cooler weather please make sure you are sending a jacket or sweatshirt with your child daily. We go outside for recess daily unless it is raining J

November tuition is due

Hearing and Vision Screening Monday, Nov. 15th – Mandatory for our Pre K students (Red, Sky Blue and Purple Rooms) please turn in your form and payment ASAP. Make checks to Insight

Progress Reports: All classrooms with the exception of Rainbow will be sending home progress reports for you to review. We do this twice a year so you can see development wise where your child is. Please look it over and sign the back and return to your classroom teacher. We will do this again in the spring and at that time you will keep the progress report. *The Pre K classes are the only classes that hold fall conferences.*

Purple Conferences – Monday, Nov. 15th
Red Room Conferences – Tuesday, Nov. 16th
Sky Blue Conferences – Wednesday, Nov. 17th
If you have not signed up for your child’s pre k conference please look for the sign up sheet next to the sign in/out sheet.

Bike-A-Thon Update:
As of today we have raised $5,150 in donations!! This is fantastic and we are so appreciative of our generous community!!!! If you have donations yet to turn in that is great!! Please send them in as soon as you can. We have already purchased science curriculum (software) to use in the computer lab, books for several classrooms, and classroom manipulatives. The classrooms will continue to update items in their classrooms throughout the year with our fundraiser money. I will update you during the year with news of our purchases. Thank you so much for all your support!!!

Music:
The children are preparing for the SCDC Christmas Program which will be on Monday, December 6th at 6:30pm. All the students are part of this program so make sure you have this on your calendar. It is a special evening and will be held in the Suncreek sanctuary. Look for more information as we get closer!

**I took tons of pictures last week at the Halloween parties and during the fire truck visit this week. You may view all of those pictures on our blog at www.suncreekkids.blogspot.com. Make sure and check those out J

It was great to see so many of our SCDC families attend Suncreek’s Fall Festival last weekend. It was a fun event!!

Enjoy this beautiful fall weather and have a great weekend!!

Blessings~

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone has had a great week! The children have been so excited this week for Halloween and the excitement was definitely in the air with the parties and the weekend approaching. I love this time of the year and get such a kick out of all the cute costumes the children wear. Thank you to all of our parents for planning such fun parties and activities for our children for Halloween. The kids have soooo much fun!

Just a couple reminders about next week’s events:

Monday & Tuesday the Allen Fire Department will be here to show the children the fire truck and ambulance and cover some basic fire safety. The children always love this event! They will be here at 10 am both days.

In the month of November the children will be celebrating home and family. During this month you will see activities in your child’s class dealing with fall and Thanksgiving, using good manners and celebrating those special people that care for us. The bible verse this month is “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.” Psalm 106:1.

During chapel we will be talking about all the things that God gives us to be thankful for. In addition to that we will be incorporating a few Fruits of the Spirit into our chapel time all month. (love, joy, peace and kindness)

The color of the month is brown, shape is the triangle and we will be studying the letters H and I and reviewing the letters that we have studies so far. We have a lot going on so please makes sure you take the time to read all things that come home in your child’s folder daily as well as checking emails sent to you by the teachers.

November tuition is due next week. It is not considered late until after the 15th of the month. The tuition drop box is located on the wall at the front desk (under the clock). Thanks!

Bike-A-Thon Update: Wow!! We have already raised around $4,000 in donations from the event J I thank all of you and your families and friends for generously supporting the preschool. It is such a fun event for the kids and it is all about them! It just warms my heart to see such an outpouring of love from those in our community when it comes to our precious children. Please keep sending those donations in ASAP. I will continue to collect donations as long as they continue to come in. Ideally I would like them all to be in by Monday, Nov. 1st but after that is fine too! Look for the grand total in next week’s update. I will also list the items that we used with the donations we raised. It all goes back to the classrooms and the kids!

Make sure to check out the blog weekly at www.suncreekkids.blogspot.com and you can find us on Facebook. Have a safe and fun Halloween weekend – GO RANGERS!!!!!

Blessings~
